Nightstand Makeover for a Princess

Miss M loves pink. Anything and everything pink. I thought it would be fun to add a splash of pink to her room. Her bed and dresser are white and her walls are green so pink will pop in her room. I found a cute French Provincialish nightstand and desk on Craigslist for $20. That is a steal around here. French Provincial stuff usually goes for a lot more so I was happy about that. Plus the lady lived less than a mile from me so that made it easy.

They started out as the typical creamy white with gold accents. The nightstand was pretty beat up. Here's the before:

It took a lot of sanding to get this bad boy cleaned up. I them primed and painted it a metallic pink that I got at Home Depot in the Oops section for $1. Can't beat that! I added the white detail to make it pop even more. I spray painted the old knob with a white gloss paint.

Here's the after:

I love how it turned out. Can't wait to tackle the desk. Miss M thinks it's pretty cute, too. I'm going to be hiding it away and saving it for her birthday. I think she's going to love having a "big girl" makeover of her room when she turns 4.

What do you think? Did you do anything crafty this weekend?

  2. Question: I have a dresser that matches this nightstand, exactly (I think). Was the finish on this a bit like laminate when you started? And did you treat it at all before painting? Like sanding or priming. I want to makeover the dresser I have - but don't know where to start. Would love your thoughts!

  4. Yes, it does have a laminate top and I did sand it a bit to help the paint stick. I also used Bin 1-2-3 primer. It's the beat for painting laminate type furniture! Hope that helps!
