More Recent Signs

This holiday season just flew by. I was super busy making signs for gifts that I didn't even have a chance to take good pictures of some of them. Here's what I accomplished this past month.

A funny Christmas sign for the wine lover:

A couple of signs for a local firefighter and his family:

Made this one for myself. I wanted to add a fun touch to my winter gallery wall.

This one I made for myself as well.

This one was for my Mother in Law.

A couple lucky Grandma's received these ones for Christmas:

Love this version of the coffee one, too.

Handmade Christmas Gift #5

My parents are known as Nana and Grandpa. When my youngest was learning to speak, he always said "Crampa" and then it got shortened to Cramps. Now we lovingly refer to them and "Nana and the Cramps." What would Christmas be without a personalized sign? So here you go:

My parents loved it and it now hangs over their entry way door. :)

Handmade Christmas Gift #4

My 2 year old is into trains. I found the perfect train table on Craigslist for a steal but the top was damaged and needed to be redone. My husband cut some plywood down and I set to work. I painted one side with chalkboard paint so he could draw to his hearts content. The other side, I hand painted a landscape scene for his hot wheels and trains. I love how it turned out. Little G-Man loves it, too!

Handmade Christmas Gift #2

My Grandma passed away this past June. I knew I wanted to do something special for my Dad this Christmas since it will be his first without her. It took me a while to decide what to do but when I ran across this tutorial from Pocket Full of Whimsy on Pinterest, I knew I had to try it.

I love this picture of my Grandma holding my Dad when he was a baby. The backdrop looks to be my Great Grandpa's farm which is filled with a lot fun memories for my Dad since he spent a lot of time there growing up. The tutorial was very straight forward and the only issue I ran into was my picky printer. When it did finally decide to print, it turned out great. I used a linen colored muslin to print on and a dark denim fabric for the back.

I love this little pillow. I hope my Dad can treasure this tiny little pillow as a special reminder of his Mom.

Happy Crafting!

Handmade Christmas Gift #1

This year, as in years past, I am trying to make at least one thing for each of my kids for Christmas. My almost 7 year old is obsessed with Legos so what better to make him than a Lego table. He loves to free build all sorts of buildings. I think a Lego table will ofter him a great place to do that.

I ordered 4 Lego Plates (10x10) from the Lego store and a white Lack side table from Ikea. Since I ordered on Black Friday the table was only $4.99...score! Using E-6000 glue, I glued each base plate onto the table creating a large square. Make sure if you decide to try this that the room is well ventilate because E-6000 stinks but it will hold forever!

I think this little project turned out great. It took me less than 10 minutes to glue down the base plates and assemble the table. I can't wait to see my big guy's face on Christmas morning!

I will be sharing other gift ideas over the next couple weeks as I finish them. So stay tuned!

A Few of My Favorite Things...Christmas Decor Edition!

Today, I want to share with you some of my favorite Christmas decor in my home. I love this time of year and making my house full of Christmas spirit! Watching my kids' eyes fill with wonder and joy as we decorated the house this year was priceless. So, here's a round-up of some of my favorite things! Enjoy!

It is my favorite time of the year so of course I had to put this quote on my gallery wall chalkboard!

I spruced up my living room gallery wall with a few Christmas touches.

I decorated the top of my hutch with my wooden nativity and a branch tree.

I brought in my Dad's old wooden sled from when he was a boy and added a wreath to it and propped it in the corner. This is one of my very favorite pieces!

I added a simple wreath to my vintage shutters. My nutcracker looks so poised standing nearby!

Using my vintage aqua mason jars, I created a couple of sweet snow globes for my kitchen windowsill.

I Christmas-fied the shelves on the staircase gallery wall.

I hope you enjoyed the little sneak peak of my Christmas decor.

A New Christmas Tradition

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving and spending time with family. I know I did and I think I'm still stuffed a week later! Now that Thanksgiving is over, I need to shift gears for Christmas. I am hoping to start a couple of new traditions this year with my kids now that my baby is almost 3. I think all three rug rats will love what I have in store.

I wanted to do something that they could look forward to each day besides our daily advent calendar. As a former teacher, I had a ton of Christmas books just packed away. I have taken them out in years past at Christmas but we never seemed to read all of them.  This year, I decided to change that.

I got out my Christmas book stash and wrapped up 24 of them. Totally tedious for me but I think the kids will love opening up one per night before bed. The excitement of picking one out and not knowing what it is will be so much fun! I think each year I will add a book or two to change it up. I think I'm going to love this new tradition as much as they do. What kind of fun traditions do you like to do with your kids at Christmas.

Have a great week!

Christmas Signs

This year I decided to create some Christmas signs, not only for my own home but to make for others as well. I made several designs that can be customized to fit any decor. I love how they turned out. If you would like one, I'm selling them for $30-40 depending on size.

Here are my examples:
