Well, maybe not the world but a globe. It's difficult to find a globe these days that is not ridiculously overpriced. I'm not one to care if it's exactly current or not. I just wanted it for decoration and to teach my kids about different places in the world.
I've been looking around for a globe for awhile now. I finally found one that was on a cool stand, too for only $1.29 at Goodwill (yay for $1.29 Mondays!). The base was outdated looking with a goldish-brass finish but I knew I couldn't pass up this deal. I do wish my globe had a date on it though. It would be interesting to know the year but it does have the USSR and East Germany so it's probably from the 70's or 80's.
I decided to spray paint the base with an oil rubbed bronze metallic paint. I love this color and it adds a little bit of dimension with the metallic finish. Taking apart the globe from the base proved challenging but I finally got it and I'm glad I did. I love the way it turned out. The kids love looking at it and already can find where we live on it. I think that was the best $1.29 I've spent in awhile!
Have a great weekend,
Shara
