My 5 year old is obsessed with bowling. He can turn ordinary objects into something bowling related. Don't have enough bowling pins, Buzz Lightyear is a good substitute. Can't find the bowling ball, an apple or a wad of paper will do. There's never a bowling challenge that this boy cannot overcome.
A few weeks ago I was scouring Craigslist as I so often do these days and I came across this side table for free. Free is always best so I ran and snatched it up. The minute I put it in the car, my son said, "is that a bowling lane table for me." And my idea was born.
The Before:
The table was pretty banged up but according to the date on the bottom it was 5o years old so that should be expected. I sanded it down and primed it. It was already looking better. I decided to paint it orange and go for the bright pop of color in his blue room. I added a gray stripe (the bowling lane) with blue borders (the gutters).
This table turned out fabulous and not only is it super cute but it's a fun bowling lane for my little man. He's already spent hours "bowling" today at his own ally and he even taught his baby brother how to do it. This table will definitely be put to good use and will work great once the new "boys" room is completed.
What do you think? I love having fun furniture!
Enjoy your weekend,
Shara
