Updating a Desk

I recently found a desk at Goodwill for $20. It had been poorly spray painted a black color and was in serious need of a makeover. It is solid maple and in fantastic condition aside from the poor paint job. I knew the perfect spot for this beauty in the rough.
(Sorry for the terrible before picture from my cellphone after I had already started painting it)

I originally painted it a bright turquoise-aqua color but decided it was too bright even for my bold tastes. I went over the turquoise with Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint in Old white for the body and Country gray for the top and drawer fronts. I then distressed it so some of the turquoise and original black came through.

I love how it turned out. The peek-a-boo colors that come through add such a fun dimension to this desk. I still need to repaint the hardware but it's too rainy and cold lately for that...hopefully, soon! It now makes the perfect computer space for the kids and will be ideal for doing homework as they get older. I love that I can store supplies like pencils and paper in it.

What have you crafted lately?
